An auxiliary verb which expresses the idea that someone does something undesirable to someone else when he/she knows his/her action will cause hardship or trouble.
Notes
あまり only means "not much" when paired with a negative verb. Else it means too much/excessively
[From a wife to her husband] Hiroshi always plays video games and doesn't study at all. Will you (literally: tell him off) (literally: once)?
言うことを聞く = to do what one is told to; to listen to what someone says
